Christopher Dodd is … Christopher Dodd is quite useless anyway. Nobody will shed a tear when he disappears. If a statistical regression was performed comparing his voting record versus his receipt of campaign contributions, many would suspect that bribery has occurred. We should be very grateful Peter Schiff is rising to the occasion. Please do all you can to put Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, and other similarly-minded responsible into power. Your tax dollars will be highly rewarded by electing Schiff and Paul.
Shiff is not a … Shiff is not a Neocon. fror that one interview, he has dozens that show a different foriegn policy view than what you say he has based on one quote. You are obviosly trying to railroad him. He is probably one of the biggest non-interventionists in politics.
@AtlasShruggery
You … @AtlasShruggery
You quote Peter Schiff starting with “We tell the Iranians:…”
Please tell me what show.. or a name or a /watch? URL for this.
I’ve tried to watch everything I can of Peter Schiff and I sincerely suspect you are taking the words out of context OR you are confused.
I’m fairly familiar … I’m fairly familiar with the Iran Contra affair. Ronald Reagan told at least three different stories about how and why he traded arms for hostages with the Iranians.
Two of my favorite Reagan quotes are:
“We did not repeat did not trade arms for hostages”
“I just don’t recall”
Classic Reagan.
You must adnit that many of our current foreign policy problems are the result of blowback from Reagan’s idiotic policy of arming extremists and coddling murderous dictators.
Atlas,You attack … Atlas,You attack Reagan for dealing with Iran and you attack Schiff for an unwillingness to deal with Iran. In ‘85, while Iran and Iraq were at war, Iran made a secret request to buy weapons from the US. McFarlane sought Reagan’s approval, in spite of the embargo against selling arms to Iran. McFarlane explained that the sale of arms would not only improve U.S. relations with Iran, but might in turn lead to improved relations with Lebanon, increasing U.S. influence in the troubled Middle East.
My God, you are … My God, you are speaking about the Iran-Contra affair. If you do a simple Google search you can read a complete account of what happened and why it happened. Under any objective reading of what occurred, no reasonable person would say Reagan and the ayatollahs were buddies and Reagan was out to help his buddies. I won’t answer your question re Schiff’s comments until you acknowledge that Reagan was not buddies with the ayatollahs.
Hmmm. Have you … Hmmm. Have you forgotten how Ronald Reagan sold missiles to the Iranians in order to curry favor with the ayatollahs and the Revolutionary Guard?
Do you believe that Iran poses an imminent threat to the US which would justify the attack on Iran advocated by Schiff? Serious question.
Atlas, You might … Atlas, You might want to tone down your hostility. You’d be surprised how much I notice. I must say, your anger leads you down paths that are silly. You are certainly one of the few that would say that Reagan was “buddies” with the ayatollas. When you make comments like that the rest of your comments are called into question. In any event, no need for us to carry on this banter. Best of luck to you.
In case you hadn’t … In case you hadn’t noticed, Iran is in the midst of a liberal led revolution. Reagan’s buddies, the ayatollahs, are on the ropes.
Many of us are concerned about nuclear weapons but most of us are not stupid enough to call for attacking Iran militarily like Schiffty Pete and his Neocon brethren like Dick Cheney and Bill Kristol.
Why do you believe than Iran is an imminent military threat to the US?
Hi Atlas, I don’t … Hi Atlas, I don’t know if you are from the U.S. If you are not, I understand why you may not be too concerned about whether Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons poses a security threat to the U.S. If you are concerned about the security of the U.S. I can understand why you might disagree with Peter’s view on this matter. It should be noted that Peter is not alone in having concern re the matter. Many think that dialogue with Iran is the better approach. How is that approach working?
Nope. I call … Nope. I call Schiffty a Neocon for his foreign policy views.
Here’s a quote from yer boy Schiffty Pete:
“We tell the Iranians: This is where we think those weapons are, you need to let our inspectors in there. If they dont let us in, just blow the place up.
Sounds like Dick Cheney and Bill Kristol, doesn’t he?
AtlasShruggery, an … AtlasShruggery, an ad hominem attack on a person is the best evidence that the speaker has nothing to say. Calling Peter Schiff a neocon is an ad hominem attack. Peter is not a politician. He is someone who believes this country has been going down the wrong path for years. How can anyone argue with that? Our solution to every economic problem is to borrow or “print” money and spend it. This is not sustainable. And, for that, you call Peter a neocon?
If you say that … If you say that your potential electorate will be wiped out (financially) you’d better accompany it with a quick advice a la Wallstreet Unspun, Peter.
